Position:

Reports To: Director of District MSHSAA Activities and Building Administrator
Classification: Certified or Classified (dependent upon qualifications of the individual)
FLSA Status: Exempt or Non-Exempt (dependent upon qualifications of the individual)
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year as reviewed and established annually by the Board of Education
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated regularly in accordance with the Board’s policy on the evaluation of coaching staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulates objectives before the sports season begins.

• Distributes literature to all athletes regarding the Athletic Commitment Form and student eligibility requirements.

• Provides athletes with the letter award policy for the assigned sport.

• Schedules and organizes daily practices to maximize athlete development.

• Teaches fundamental skills, theory, and strategy of the sport.

• Emphasizes the importance of good conduct, sportsmanship, and citizenship.

• Supervises athletes at all times and enforces discipline in a firm yet productive manner.

• Ensures athletes follow safe procedures during practices and competitions.

• Implements proper out-of-season training in accordance with MSHSAA guidelines.

• Attends the athletic awards program.

• Encourages enthusiasm and a competitive attitude during practices.
